Second Friday is a free celebration of the arts from 6 to 9 p.m. on the second Friday of each month. The Art Shop will be open to give guests the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind artwork directly from the artists during this event. Guest musicians Alex & Noah will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Paintings by Mark DeGennaro will be the feature art for the evening.  Also from 6 - 9 p.m. the 3rd Floor Artists will have Open Studios, including Art Shop members Pamela Howard and Scott Kissell.

Second Friday is a free celebration of the arts from 6 to 9 p.m. on the second Friday of each month. The Art Shop will be open to give guests the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind artwork directly from the artists during this event.  In this newsletter we have included a 10% off coupon for the Art Shop as part of a promotion to give our art to your sweetheart for Valentine's Day which is February 14. OCAC will be kicking off the 2016 Second Friday season with an exhibition by Sean Oswald. Mr. Oswald holds a BA in Art Education from Miami University and an MFA from the University of Cincinnati. Sean’s recent work explores the interconnections between the ideological frameworks of contemporary arts and Christian communities through narrative paintings and drawings that blur the line between sincerity and satire.   The music for second Friday will be provided by the Jericho Old time Band which begins at 7:30 p.m.  Also from 6 - 9 p.m. the 3rd Floor Artists will have Open Studios, including Art Shop members Pamela Howard and Scott Kissell.

Here are the details of the event: Banish post-holiday blues.  Think CHOCOLATE!!!  Come to the Oxford Community Arts Center Saturday, January 16, 2015 between 1 and 5 p.m.  The Arts Center and Miami University Art Museum are co-sponsoring a multi-faceted family event to celebrate all things chocolate as well as the vibrancy which the arts bring to the greater Oxford community. There will be something for everyone to enjoy-treats for the palette and the eyes-as attendees celebrate the arts. Cost of event $7 in advance, $10 at the door.

Oxford Community Art Center 
Second Friday, Dec. 11, Art Shop open 6-9 p.m.
This special Mix & Mingle Second Friday precedes the Oxford Musicians Holiday Concert. Come enjoy open studios, the Art Shop, and a reception before the music begins at 7 pm. Second Friday is a celebration of the arts taking place from 6pm to 9pm on the second Friday of each month.  This free event includes music, new exhibits, and an opening reception. The Open Studios and Art Shop give guests the opportunity to view creative art space, as well as purchase one-of-a-kind artwork directly from the artists; Local musicians share their talent and expertise beginning at 8 pm.  The 3rd Floor Artists will have Open Studios, including Art Shop members Pamela Howard and Scott Kissell.

Empty Bowls Event
Each person attending the Empty Bowls event at OCAC on Saturday, Nov.  14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will receive a coupon good for a 10% discount on their total purchases at the Art Shop for the following week (Nov. 14-20).  The OCAC will then donate 10% of the total sales at the shop to the Oxford Community Food Pantry.

Extended Art Shop Hours
Art Shop will be open in conjunction with Oxford Community Arts Center's Howl At The Moon: A Spooky Family Arts Night, Oxford's premier family-friendly autumn event. 

Howl at the Moon, open from 5 to 8 pm, features live music with Jericho Old Time Band, a live animal experience with Hueston Woods Naturalist Shawn Conner, improv comedy with SketchedOut!, Haunted Tales with guest storytellers, a carved pumpkin contest, pumpkin painting, face painting, arts activities, games, artists' market, and so much more. Howl at the Moon admission is FREE, with some activities requiring tickets ($1 each or 6 tickets for $5). Tickets are available at the door.

Tuesday through Thursday we have changed hours from 3-6pm to 11am-2pm, and added an evening shift on Thursdays from 5-8pm. Please tell us what you think. Art Shop member Marjorie Bowers will be the featured speaker at the McGuffey Museum's monthly volunteer meeting. Marjorie will present a talk about her book Remembering Caroline Scott Harrison, Oxford, Ohio's First Lady. The talk is open to the public and will be followed by book signings. All proceeds from the sale of Remembering Caroline Scott Harrison support Oxford Community Art Center's renovation fund. 

Marjorie is also speaking and singing her book at the 12th Annual Cocktail Party Fundraiser at the Church of the Presidents in Long Branch, New Jersey on August 21. Click here for more information.

Opening Reception: Shakespeare on the Walls
Work by Art Shop member & OCAC Artist in Residence Pamela Howard will be featured in the exhibition Shakespeare on the Walls. Her piece, Hanging Shakespeare, consists of 900 hand-rolled paper beads made from pages of an anthology of Shakespeare's works. The beads are arranged as hanging screens and each bead contains legible excerpts from Shakespeare's plays. Shakespeare on the Walls will be on display August 8 - October 6.

We are pleased to now offer a selection of Art Shop items for sale at Oxford Visitors Bureau, 14 W. Park Pl, Ste C, at the NW corner of Uptown Park. We send grateful thanks to the Visitors Bureau staff for providing us space and handling Annex sales. Art Shop artists will donate 20% of all Art Shop Annex sales to support the Oxford Summer Music Festival.

Art Shop Co-op artists join OCAC upstairs studio artists and Shademakers Nursery & Landscape for a hands-on outdoor art celebration on the lawn of Oxford Community Arts Center.
It was dismal/dreary weather but there was art on the lawn, art on the porch and in the Art Shop Co-op! Shademakers' bright flowers, colorful artist tents and lively notes from Oxford Gourd and Drum Ensemble brightened spirits, and the area community turned out to supportArt Shop Co-op's first ever Art on the Lawn!
